Vocational Training Or Higher Education To Choose?

National studies have shown that the expected job prospects and earning opportunities of an important point in the matriculation standard and the subsequent acquisition of vocational training. Another determining factor in language and computer skills, and possess a professional mastering, which is a region in the labor market needs and fits well. So they start from a clear disadvantage for young people who do not meet the graduation requirements and are not able to learn to take a job. For them, mostly lower-paid, serious physical workload of jobs available. Way out of this situation, the development of other skills like professional driver’s license to obtain mean.

In higher education alone is not a guarantee for employment are greater than a well-chosen professional training. The current situation in the labor market and the expansion of atypical forms of employment for graduates adaptability can be thoroughly put to the test. Today, more and more young people to be prepared, they can not find permanent, full-time vacancies filled. Diploma in hand is characteristic of the fixed-term employment contract, temporary agency work. To be reckoned with and the constraints of self-employment or freelance lifestyle pledge. The European Union surveys experienced phenomena with more or less delay pass through our country as well as the phenomenon of graduate unemployment had been acquainted in the past decade himalayan university.

Which is the better solution for professional training or graduation? This question can not give a general answer. In all cases, individual discretion to get the right decision. The most important factor because the candidate’s personality. As a first step; it is important to determine whether the young people were more concerned about the practical, tangible results-producing activities represent a joy, or prefer to deal with a hypothetical tasks. It is important to know that personal development can be identified in a characteristic pattern, which is the age of practical, effortless, quick and tangible results are the leading way of working preference can be characterized by only years later, followed by the theoretical orientation – Introduction outlines the situation of the psychologist. So the question should be changed, and how should decide what type of training to be the first drive off the track. The era of lifelong learning, one can not avoid that from time to time to return to school. An important question is whether there is a mood to study at all. If the openness, curiosity, learning demand is missing, then perhaps it is more appropriate on entering higher education expect.

Professional training is usually held the graduation can be done in less time is studied. Selecting a suitable profession for faster access to financial independence and autonomy. Favorable case, the practical training to ensure a smooth field of employment. The latter, a certain degree of entrepreneurship, economic literacy and business sense of existence.

Professional training in areas related mainly to be effective, practical and organizers who take pleasure in their work – draws attention to the psychologist. Professional training can be a good entry for certain higher education programs: the same are also manually acquire experience, what challenges lie ahead onto a workspace. Example, you can learn how it works in practice in the hospitality trade and what will be the subject of higher education can be known theories.

Opportunity for further progress through the ranks or professional skills in the field of education or related master’s in higher education, further training may be done. The risk of unemployment persists in possession of professional qualifications, the available income of graduates in relation to third-half less. Of course, it is also crucial to the profession what it is, and the region in which the employee lives and it is important that the move to undertake further training participation – calls attention to the psychologist.

Australian researchers confirm stress makes you sick

Wednesday, December 7, 2005

Australian researchers say they have scientifically proven that stress causes sickness. The Garvan Institute in Sydney has discovered that a hormone, known as neuropeptide Y (NPY) is released into the body during times of stress. Their findings show the hormone can stop the immune system from functioning properly.

“Neuropeptide Y is one of those hormones that gets unregulated or released from neurones when stressful situations occur…it’s known for example that it regulates blood pressure and heart rates so your heart rate goes up but it hasn’t been known that it actually can affect immune cells as well,” said Professor Herbert Herzog, one of the researchers.

Herzog feels it is good to finally have proof of something people have suspected for so long.

“Now we have proven without doubt that there is a direct link and that stress can weaken the immune system and that makes you more vulnerable when you for example have a cold or flu and even in the more serious situations such as cancer can be enhanced in these situations,” said Herzog.

The Garvan Institute study centres on two key events that enable the human body to recognise foreign substances and control invaders. When our body encounters a pathogen (bacteria and viruses), the immune cells retain and interrogate suspects. Their activation is made possible by NPY. These cells then return to the lymph nodes, which are found all over the body, with information about the foreign invaders. The lymph nodes are where decisions about defence are made.

“Most of us expect to come down with a cold or other illness when we are under pressure, but until now we have mostly had circumstantial evidence for a link between the brain and the immune system,” said lead Garvan researcher, associate Professor Fabienne Mackay. “During periods of stress, nerves release a lot of NPY and it gets into the bloodstream, where it directly impacts on the cells in the immune system that look out for and destroy pathogens (bacteria and viruses) in the body.”

In the case of bacteria and viruses, TH1 cells are part of the attack team that is sent out on the ‘search and destroy’ mission. But when their job is done they need to be turned ‘off’ and the immune system reset. The same hormone, NPY, that activates the sentry cells now prompts the TH1 cells to slow down and die.

“Under normal conditions, circulating immune cells produce small amounts of NPY, which enables the immune cells on sentry duty and the TH1 immune cells to operate – it’s a yin and yang kind of situation. But too much NPY means that the TH1 attack is prevented despite the foreign invaders being identified – and this is what happens during stress,” added McKay.

The impact of stress on the body has been observed in athletes. Ph. D researcher at the University of Queensland, Luke Spence, together with the Australian Institute of Sport, studied elite and recreational athletes over five months.

They found elite athletes were more susceptible to respiratory diseases under stress.

“A lot of elite athletes put themselves through vast amounts of physical stress in their training, but also their emotional, psychological stress of feeling the pressure of Australia on their shoulders, wanting to compete and wanting to do their best,” said Spence.

It’s not just athletes who are prone to stress. Pressures at work and at home may cause emotional and mental stress that can be equally damaging. Almost a third of all work absenteeism in Australia is due to illness, costing employers over $10 billion a year.

“I think it has a huge impact for the work force and also for employers – if their employees are constantly stressed, constantly under pressure, they are more likely to get sick,” Spence said.

Further research could lead to the development of new drugs which may inhibit the action of the neuropeptide Y hormone.

Herzog warns people to minimise stress before it becomes a problem.

“Relaxation methods like yoga will help you to prevent that but there will still be people out there that are not responding to that and treatment by interfering with the system will be important,” he said. “There’s obviously some time until such a treatment will be available but this is something we will definitely work towards.”

The Garvan research will be published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, Volume 202, No. 11.

Danish Integration Minister’s car burned

Wednesday, June 8, 2005

Copenhagen, Denmark – The Danish Integration Minister Rikke Hvilshøj’s car was set ablaze outside her family-home on the morning of Wednesday 8 June. From there, the fire spread to the family’s garage, and further on to the side of the house, damaging the roof above the kitchen and children’s room.

At the same time, an e-mail was sent to several media agencies, where a group calling themselves “Action Group Beate” claimed responsibility, saying it is a “protest against the racist immigrational laws of Denmark”. The police found the computer used for sending the mail within a few hours, and closed down the cybercafé whilst removing the computer.

Throughout the Danish political system politicians from both the ruling party and the opposition have expressed their outrage over the terrorism.

The insurance company is currently assessing the amount of damage done to the home, but so far they have made an estimate of £27.000, just for the house damages.

Top Five Jobs For Felons

Top Five Jobs For Felons

by

Michael Ford, The Auction Inquisitor

Finding employment after being released from prison can be one of the most difficult tasks a felon faces. No one wants to hire you but parole terms require you to have a job or go back to jail. Even if you do not have parole requirements, you have to support yourself and face the question on every job applicatrion:

‘Have you ever been convicted of a felony?’ Over 80% of all employers use some form of background check today which greatly limits the job paths available to convicted felons and even those convicted of misdemeanors. Here are some jobs that are available: #3 Start your own business This is one of the best options for ex-cons because you never have to go through a background check and never have to worry about being fired. The best businesses are low cost start-ups. Look for something you can do at home, on your computer, or something where people want to pay you to come to them. This avoids renting a storefront or office. Some examples Windshield repair – People pay you to come to their house and repair dings in their windshield. You can purchase a kit, practice on windshields in a junkyard until you are good enough, then offer your services through your local free newspaper. Locksmith – There are many places where you can train to be a locksmith, even home study courses. The big advantage of starting your own business is that there are no background checks. I recommend you buy some books on starting your business and a book on creating a business plan. Some books on marketing your business and the difference between a sole-proprietorship and a corporation would also be a good idea. This is a huge topic and much too complicated to go into here but you must do some research and understand at least something about running a business before jumping in. The important thing to do is research and study business books first. Most businesses fail because the person who starts it knows nothing about business. They hope to hang out their sign and the money will come in. It never happens that way. You will need a plan and you should start small. #2 Medical Tests It may not sound glamorous, maybe even scary, but it pays real money and they do not ask any questions other than health related ones. There are many medical studies going on around the country. These are not all for cancer or heard disease either. Somewhere a company has a new product that heals scars. They want people with scars who will try their product and let them photograph the results. Some company has a new tattoo removal system and they need people to test it on. Some of these jobs are outpatient type jobs where they pay you a few hundred dollars a month. Others are in-patient where you are kept in a hospital and monitored. These pay the most and may involve testing new drugs, anti depressants, or they may simply want to see how a healthy person reacts to an anti-inflammatory drug. You may even be one of the people who receive the placebo drug that does nothing and not the real drug. Check the Internet or if you have a local teaching hospital or research center they may be able to help too. #1 Recommended Job – Online Freelance Work This is the best job for a felon because it requires no background check, no drug tests, no psychological tests, no certifications or anything else. You are hired based on what you can do and nothing else matters. I am talking about remote, work at home type jobs. Not the fake jobs you see on the Internet like those assemble-junk-at-home jobs or copying names from the phone book type jobs, or stuffing envelope jobs, those are all scams. There are no such jobs in existence. There are however many legitimate work at home opportunities where small companies hire you online and pay up-front. These jobs may last a day, a week, or a month. You can work multiple jobs at once if you want or you can take a break or vacation anytime you feel like it. If you only want to work one day a week, you can do it. You have complete control over how much you make and when you work and you never have to go to a job interview again. If you are good with computers that helps but it is not necessary. These jobs vary depending on what the company needs. You work for one company of a few days then work for the next company. The jobs range from computer programming, to data entry, webpage design, editing and proofreading, recording voicemail welcome messages, editing video, doing web research, forum marketing, writing sales letters, and anything else that can be done remotely. These jobs are posted on special Hire-Me Network sites by companies. You look through the listings and pick a job you want, then tell the company what you want to be paid and when you can complete the job. Some other options are #5 Delivery Driver Many companies are willing to hire felons as delivery people as long as you have a clean driving record and no DUI’s. UPS has been known to hire felons. #4 Join the Army You can find a link to the US Army policy on hiring felons below. #7 Telephone Customer Service Many companies are willing to hire felons to handle phone based customer service. #6 Temp Agency Temp agencies are a good option. You will have to explain what your conviction was for and convince them it will not affect your work. Many companies that would never consider hiring a felon full time, will hire people from a Temp Agency or even short term contract people without a background check. #5 Family Business You may be able to work in a family or friend’s business. #3 Truck Driver It is a myth that all trucking companies are willing to hire felons. It is also difficult because special licensing is required for larger trucks. If you are on parole this kind of work may not be possible because the job will likely require you to go out of state. If you are not on parole then this would not be a problem. Truck driving jobs are not a sure thing and if you lack experience it is unlikely you will be able to drive an 18 wheeler, maybe smaller trucks. This is a small section taken from the book Jobs For Felons which is available at Amazon for $6.95 but you can also download a free copy on the web. These are the top 10 jobs but there are many more and the book also explains more about the #1 recommendation, freelance work. This is only a few of the listings available plus you can find many agencies that specialize in helping felons find jobs, how to answer the question “Have you ever been convicted of a felone?” during an interview so that you are not immediately out of consideration and much more.

No injuries after Antarctica research station support plane crashes

Tuesday, December 25, 2007

A Basler BT-67, chartered from Canadian air carrier Kenn Borek Air for the National Science Foundation (NSF), a United States government agency, has crashed whilst attempting take-off during a support assignment in Antarctica. None of the ten people on board were injured, but the modified Douglas DC-3 was substantially damaged in the accident.

The accident occurred on the morning of December 20 local time, about 550 miles from McMurdo Station, a US-run Antarctic base. The aircraft was carrying a crew of four, and six researchers. The flight was part of the Polar Earth Observatory Network project, which is part-funded by the NSF. The project sets up GPS equipment and seismic sensors in various locations across Antarctica, in order to monitor changes in the ice sheets that cover the continent. It is thought that this will aid understanding of global warming.

Although the NSF refused to publicise any details of the crash, one anonymous passenger has come forward about the accident, releasing his account in the form of an online report. According to the passenger, one side of the plane failed to lift off, and the aircraft’s wing subsequently dug into the ice.

“My seat came unbolted from the floor with me still strapped into the seatbelt,” the passenger said. “When we finally came to a halt, we were all in big pile in the corner of the plane with all of the equipment. We got shaken up pretty bad, but there were no major injuries other than some minor cuts and bruises… The wings, props, and tail all got bent up pretty bad. The landing gear, skis, and hydraulic system all were ripped from the plane and strewn about the ice.”

Following the accident, all those on board spent about twenty hours before they were flown back to McMurdo Station on board two Twin Otter aircraft sent from the base on a rescue mission. A full investigation has been launched into the crash by the Department of the Interior‘s Aircraft Management Division (AMD), who have signed a memorandum of agreement with NSF to conduct any necessary investigations on their behalf. The AMD have subsequently contacted the United States National Transportation Safety Board, who will participate in conjunction with the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.

US Senator Ted Stevens convicted on 7 counts

Monday, October 27, 2008

United States Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska was convicted Monday on seven counts of failing to report gifts. Stevens, a senior United States Senator from Alaska and the longest serving Republican in the Senate, had been accused of not reporting tens of thousands of dollars worth of gifts from the VECO Corporation including free house remodeling. The jury in the District of Columbia found Stevens guilty on all seven counts.

Bill Allen, VECO’s CEO, is a longtime friend of Stevens and much of the case involved the specific interaction between Stevens and Allen. Allen had been previously convicted and had agreed to testify against Stevens and to record conversations he had with Stevens. The gifts given to Stevens included a massage chair that Stevens claimed was a loan but prosecutors noted was in Stevens house for over seven years.

Stevens is up for reelection and was facing a tough reelection bid before the convictions. It is unlikely that Stevens will retain his seat in the Senate given the convictions.

Stevens is considered to be a moderate Republican and was a member of the Republican Main Street Partnership. While a long-time Senator with many accomplishments, Stevens is known to many for a speech against net neutrality in which he referred to the internet as a series of tubes.

The New York Times has speculated that out-going United States President George W. Bush might pardon Stevens.

Accusations Tigger threw punch fill airwaves as teen claims neck injuries

Monday, January 8, 2007

A family has a video of what they claim to be “Tigger” punching their son. Visiting the Disney-MGM Studios on Saturday, Jerry Monaco Jr. of New Hampshire alleges that Tigger purposely punched him without provocation. The footage was caught on the family’s video camera, and the Monacos and their attorney are demanding an apology from the actor.

The costumed character actor at the time was employee Michael J. Fedelem.

The contact between the actor’s mitted hand and the teen’s face is brief. The video shows the following sequence of events:

 • Monaco Jr.’s left arm is moving behind Tigger, while Tigger’s right arm is on Monaco Jr’s shoulders.
 • Tigger abruptly moves his right arm down and around, sweeping Monaco Jr.’s left arm off of his back, pinning Monaco Jr.’s arm to his body.
 • Tigger then starts rotating clockwise, wherein Tigger’s left arm moves across his body. It appears that Tigger briefly pulls down on his chin, in what looks like a move to possibly prevent the head from flying off.
 • Monaco Jr. stumbles, in combination with his arm being pinned and Tigger’s rotation.
 • Tigger’s left hand appears to hit Monaco Jr.’s head or face.
 • Monaco Jr. appears to hit Tigger in the head area with his free right hand.

The footage is very brief. It shows little before or after the punch, a total of only four seconds.

Jean Erik Redrupp, General Manager of Park Operations, stated to Local 6 that “I just wanted to follow up with you and let you know that we have spoken to the cast member in question and have reacted very strongly toward him.”

Monaco Sr. told the station that “The general manager apologized to me. Everybody will come up and apologize to me but Tigger. He won’t be a man about it and get out of the costume and come out and apologize to my son. I didn’t want VIP treatment. I didn’t want an extra day at Disney. I didn’t want any of that. I wanted him to apologize and that is the one thing that they won’t do.” In the statement, he did not clarify whom “everybody” was.

Both Disney and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office launched investigations on Saturday. Fedelem has been suspended by the company until the investigation is complete. Disney commented in a statement to CBS News that: “We received the complaint alleging that a character struck a guest; guest and character altercation is not tolerated. The Orange County sheriff is launching an investigation and we are conducting our own investigation and we have suspended the cast member pending the outcome.”

This article features in a News Brief from Audio Wikinews:

Monaco Sr. took his son to the hospital the night after the altercation. Monaco Jr. claimed that he had neck pains. “I’m a little sore and most of the pain is gone because I have medicine,” he told the CBS Early Show today.

In footage, Monaco has no visible bruising.

The videotape was in regular rotation on news stations on Sunday and Monday. As of 4:00 pm ET 8 January 2007, Google News listed over five hundred news outlets filing stories on the incident.

Things To Say To Make Him Want You Back After A Breakup

Each and every time you talk to your ex boyfriend you’re a bundle of nerves. You never say the right thing. If you’re like most women who are still desperately in love with an ex boyfriend you either get overly emotional while telling him how much you want him back or you stumble over your words and sound like a fool. Either way it’s not working. You’re no closer to being back together now than you were the day after you two broke up. You’re frustrated and you miss him. It’s time to change things now. Once you understand the right things to say to make him want you back, your break up and all the pain and uncertainty that came with it will be a thing of the past.

At first thought you may assume that one of the best things to say to make him want you back is that you can’t live without him. It sounds romantic and endearing, doesn’t it? As women we’d fall into a heap of emotion if our boyfriend said this to us. However, you have to remember that men’s minds don’t work the same way at all. If you tell your ex boyfriend that he’s the only man for you and you’ll love him for eternity he’ll see that as a sign of pure desperation on your part. It’s not going to pull at his heart strings at all. It will actually make him push you away.

You need to approach the break up and your effort to get him back the same way he would if the roles were reversed. Men say things in a very direct and bold way. They tend to not pull punches when it comes to matters of the heart. If you want to get him interested in you again you have to make him believe that you’ve lost interest in him. That’s why saying something about how you wish him well or that you’re ready to move on is so powerful. He’ll take that as a rejection and once that happens his ego will take over and nothing will stop him from getting you back.

The best rule of thumb to follow when you want to say the right thing after your break up is to think twice before saying anything at all. If you’re overcome with a desire to tell your ex how much you want him back, write it down in a journal instead. If your emotions are running high and you’re angry with him for dumping you, express that in your journal too. Only share things with him that make you feel empowered and strong.

By showing or expressing little interest in him, that’s the thing that will get him to want you back. Self control and some forethought will help guide you towards being stronger and knowing what to say and what to avoid. By not wearing your heart on your sleeve and keeping your innermost thoughts to yourself, you’ll stand a much better chance of getting the man you love back for good.

Community Television consortium urges Australian government to increase funding for channels

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) has urged the Australian government to increase funding for community broadcasters. CBAA is asking for an extra $AU14 million for “vital community broadcasting services.”

According to CBAA President Deborah Welch, community television is the training ground for the Australian media industry.

“It is the launching pad for the career of thousands of Australian musicians. It is an incredible source of local news, music and culture targeted specifically to local communities and produced by members of the community themselves,” Ms Welch said in a statement.

Stations broadcast a range of programs from religious programing, to car shows and sporting events. Several state based sporting leagues broadcast on community television stations. C31 Melbourne broadcasts an association football show called The Victoria Football Show; Queensland Community Television broadcasts AFL Queensland State League matches; and C31 Adelaide broadcasts Indoor Cricket & Netball and South Australian National Football League matches.

According to the CBAA, the primary income sources for community television stations are sponsorship announcements and community donations.

“The CBBA is calling on the Federal Government to commit $14 million in new funding for content production, infrastructure, training and sector co-ordination and planning,” Ms Walch says. “With $10.4 billion being spent on ‘strengthening the economy’ this is highly targeted $14 million will assist in skills development and employment pathways for many volunteers involved in local stations as well as strengthening local communities ability to sustain themselves in tough times.”

Australian Greens communications spokesperson Senator Scott Ludlum says, “[The] government should always be looking at ways to bring communities together, through sharing information and building partnerships.”
